In this hands on workshop, you will learn how to create a Kokedama, a unique living piece of art that involves wrapping a plants roots in a moss covered soil ball. Guided by our expert Michelle, attendees will be shown the whole process from plant selection, preparing the soil, to wrapping the roots. The workshop will also cover care tips for maintaining these beautiful creations, including watering and placement for optimal growth. By the end, each participant will have a stunning, self-sustaining Kokedama to take home and display as a natural work of art.

Terrarium Make and Take Workshop

Learn how to create a small, self-sustaining terrarium using a variety of plants, decorative stones, and other natural elements. Michelle will guide attendees through the process of layering materials such as rocks, charcoal, and soil, and choosing plants suited for a miniature ecosystem. Participants will gain knowledge about the needs of different plants, proper care techniques, and how to maintain the balance of humidity and light in their terrariums. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have their own unique, low-maintenance plant display to take home.

Join Jazmen Yoder with Northwest Natura in a fun interactive and beginner friendly crash course on foraging mushrooms in Northwest Washington! In this seminar you will learn foraging basics, tips for IDing edible and poisonous look-alikes, and accessible resources to support you in your foraging expeditions. Participants will review examples of edible mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest, learn what conditions they grow in and how to find them, followed by a demonstration on creating a spore print.
